BIOgraphyKEMIST DA KIDD is an American hip-hop artist, songwriter, & entrepreneur. He was born at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA and spent the first six years of his life in the inner city of Atlanta, before moving back to his mother’s hometown of Freeport, NY. At age 15, his family again relocated, this time to Dallas, TX. Each city & state had an influential impact on both his unique lingo & style of rapping. Music has always been a passion for Kemist, but his drive to make it his career came from an older cousin who taught him how to freestyle at a young age. After realizing how natural it came to him, what started as just a hobby quickly became a way of life.
By age 12, Kemist had honed his skills to next-level status and began actively working towards making a name for himself. He performed everywhere from the playground to the local street corners. Kemist began garnering the attention of not only his peers, but industry executives as well. The following year, he was featured on a track called “Step in My Cypher” by Native Sounds, which was in rotation on K104, a Dallas based radio station. Performances around the city, one single, plus an underground following helped catapult him to local acclaim. At age 18, Kemist found himself facing a life-altering situation & subsequently spent 5 years in TDCJ, the Texas state penitentiary system. With a newfound motivation & a completely different outlook on life, Kemist knew that once he was released, nothing could stop him from achieving greatness. He used his time away to further perfect his craft before being released in 2010. Since his reinsertion into society, Kemist has released two projects, Like I Bought It Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, along with a string of visuals and singles. In 2012, Kemist launched his company, “Prolifik Vibez” along with the website, www.Prolifikvibez.com, where he sells brand merchandise and also prints & duplicates CD’s and DVD’s for other up-and-coming artists. “Like I Bought It Vol 3: The Lost Tapes" is available now, both digitally & physically.
